The Olde Boar's Head

The Olde Boar's Head is said to be haunted by three ghosts. This historic pub, dating back to the late 16th century, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors praise the friendly and attentive staff, as well as the tasty and filling food. The menu features generous portions, with a carvery and a variety of options to choose from. The pub also has a function room available for hire, a beer garden, and well-kept grounds. It's a popular spot for family pub lunches, birthday parties, and other events.

Haunted Middleton

  • The Ring O' Bells (Oldest Pub): Considered one of the most haunted spots in the area, it is linked to a 17th-century massacre where Royalist soldiers were killed by Parliamentarian (Roundhead) troops.
    • "Edward" the Cavalier: A ghost in royalist attire is often spotted.
    • Poltergeist Activity: Punters and staff have reported glasses sliding on the bar, cold spots in upstairs rooms, and loud, unexplained footsteps.
    • The Tunnel: A legendary, undiscovered underground tunnel is said to connect the pub to the nearby parish church.
  • St. Leonard's Church: A 12th-century church with several reported apparitions.
    • The Clergyman: A tall, thin man in a surplice often seen vanishing behind a pillar during services.
    • The Lady in White: A female figure spotted near the Langley Chapel.
    • Churchyard Spirits: Sightings of a woman's face in the wall and a policeman with an Alsatian dog.
  • Tonge Hall: A Tudor mansion with reports of a crying child in the cellars, "cold spots," and a ghostly figure named William identified via a Ouija board.
  • Greengate Brewery: Documented as highly active by paranormal investigators.
  • Lorton Close (Langley): A 1968 case involving intense poltergeist activity, including flying furniture and shifting shadows.
